Fried Beef Tacos

Crispy fried beef tacos made with leftover braised beef neck bones, melty cheese, and bold toppings. A soul-food taco remix done right.

Ingredients

  • 4 flour tortillas
  • ½ lbs leftover braised beef neck bones
  • 2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese

Instructions

  • Heat skillet with oil over medium heat.
  • Lay tortillas flat on.a plate or cutting board.
  • Top layer on shredded cheese, then beef, and then more cheese. Close the tortillas pressing together as much as possible.
  • Fry the tacos one at a time by placing one in the skillet, pressing down with spatula or smaller flat bottom pan. Cook about 1 minute or so per side. Repeat for each taco.
  • Open tacos and add preferred toppings.
  • Serve.

Notes

  • Don’t overstuff; these tacos want space to crisp and breathe.
  • Medium heat wins: Too hot burns the tortilla before the cheese melts.
  • Season lightly: The neck bones already carry history - taste first.
  • Leftover neck bones also make for a delicious off da chain sandwich with caramelized onions and beer sauce.
