Haitian Lemonade

This Haitian lemonade blends fresh citrus, sugar, and vanilla for a bright, smooth cookout drink with deep Caribbean flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of water
  • 1 cup lemon juice 5-6 lemons
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ice cubes as needed
  • Mint optional

Instructions

STEP 1:

  • Wash and cut lemons in half. Squeeze into pitcher.

STEP 2:

  • Add all the other ingredients to the pitcher and mix well.

STEP 3:

  • Add slices of lemon and mint (optional)

STEP 4:

  • Enjoy this with ice.

Notes

  • For elevated mint flavor, add to the pitcher first and muddle.
  • Soften the lemons first before cutting to maximize yield of juice. You can soften by rolling on countertop while applying pressure using your palms. You can also microwave on low power.
  • Add more water if too sweet for your taste.
