Notes

Oats are a great choice for breakfast because they're high in fiber and nutrients. They'll fill you up and keep you energized all morning long. Plus, they're easy to cook and can be made ahead of time. This makes them the perfect option for busy mornings!
I like a half milk half water combination but you can use 100% milk if you like. It comes down to personal taste primarily.
Almond milk is a great choice for this oatmeal recipe because it's creamy and delicious. It also happens to be vegan, so it's perfect for those with dietary restrictions. Plus, almond milk is packed with nutrients like calcium and vitamin E.
Add a pinch of salt to the oatmeal when cooking
Make sure you have enough liquid on hand. I prefer a 2:1 liquid : oats ratio to ensure my preferred level of creaminess.
Cook time will vary depending on type of oats, amount of liquid used, and temperature cooked at
I don't recommend making overnight oats with this recipe. This easy recipe was created with a warm bowl of oatmeal in mind.

If you don't have all of the ingredients on hand, don't worry! There are plenty of substitutions that can be made.
  • For the oatmeal, you can use any type of milk you have on hand. Soy milk, oat milk, and even cow's milk will work. If you're looking for a non-dairy option, coconut milk is a great choice.
  • As for the berries, feel free to use whatever type you have on hand. Fresh or frozen berries will both work well in this recipe. And if you don't have blueberries on hand, blackberries or raspberries would also be delicious.
  • For more intense flavor I like to use cinnamon sticks instead of ground cinnamon.
  • Finally, if you don't have maple syrup, honey or agave
